    Garage Lighting

    Hey Guys!

I'm looking for a cheap-ish way to improve the lighting in my garage (without running more lights).

I have 3 lights on a switch, and a 4th if you include the garage door opener.

Anyone have experience with bulbs like these?

2012 2500 SLT - 35's, 5% Tint, Custom Katzkin Leather Interior, NOCO Plug adapter for Block Heater, DRD Weight Loss Program, 4" turbo back exhaust, 20" Rough Country Single Row LED Light Bar, EZ-Lift tailgate, 2 Car Seats, cracker crumbs, and 3 year old french fries

I bought one just like that.

    I didn’t like it.

I went to Rural King and bought one of those corn cob looking lights and I love it.

    If that helps LOL.

I personally wouldn’t buy them unless they are stamped with UL (Underwriters Laboratory) for ratings and testing.

These lights are made in China.

All you need is them to short out because they were cheaply made or worse yet catch fire because it wasn’t tested properly.

    Just my 2 cents.

    Excellent observation that I missed!

    Thanks for the heads up!

Just got this darn house, don't need to lose it already LOL!

Just trying to brighten the place up before winter hits even harder!

I still have modifications I need to do to my truck before it gets too dang cold and the boss wants in there yesterday!

    LOL.

    I've seen those as well.

Do they put out a good amount of light?

    Yes.

DragonLight 54W Super Bright Corn LED Light Bulb Fanless(400 Watt Equivalent) - E26/E39 Large Mogul Base LED Lamp - 6000K Daylight 6,500 Lumens for Residential and Commercial Ceiling Lighting

That’s the one I bought off Amazon.

I work on the truck and hit golf ***** in the garage.

It puts off a lot of light.

The other one is from Rural King and it hasn’t had any problems.

The wife even leaves them on sometimes over night LOL.

I would recommend the corn cob over that other one.

It’s bright enough that when I use my trackman it doesn’t have any problem picking up the ball if that helps. .

    Thanks fellas for this thread.

My Garage does need better lighting and without spending hundreds of $$ on new LED lighting.

I chose to try the 500W LED Corn Light Bulb 5500 lumen 6500K screw in light - If its worth investing in 3 more I will do so.

    Thanks again!

I've got 4' fluorescent lights in my garage and I'm swapping out for these.

    https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07N4QX4NH

I don't have to swap out anything.

I have also bought a few new light fixtures at $20 a pop at Home Depot and installed these LED replacements to cover my dark areas, including 2 lights over my garage door so that area is bright with the door shut.

I bought the LED tubes at Lowe’s and installed them in the fluorescent lights in my kitchen. You do have to bypass the ballast completely. I left my ballast in the light, just cut the wires going them.

Not with these lights as long as they are digital ballasts, which all newer lights are. But most LED replacements I saw did require disconnecting the ballast. I even ran 2 flourescent bulbs and 2 of these LED bulbs in the same fixture with no issues. They cost a bit more than other replacement bulbs but its the extra circuitry to allow these to work with or without a ballast.
