Sounds like I should contact Ray before I do it.
I will just check the connection on the terminating bolt on it to see if it’s loose until then.

If your main concern is the “Killer Bolt” and you live in a colder climate or just want to have a grid heater, since you are already tuned another option is to add the Glacier Diesel grid heater and either remove the stock grid heater or simply abandon it in place.
See my post #16 in the link below.

Since the OP lives in a southern climate Houstonn) does his truck even use the grid heater?

Probably not unless he travels and plans on heading up north.

Honestly I knew nothing about a “killer bolt” until reading about it on forums and Google.
Seems like having a runny nose and finding on Webmd I have systemic edema of the frontal lobe and should go to the doctor immediately.
I would like to have the truck a long while and don’t want to be shocked in 100k miles when the heater craps out.

Totally understandable!
We all want these trucks to run at their highest and longest potential.
Now you have me paranoid about mine LOL.

My question is - Since he lives in Houston which we all know his OEM heater probably will hardly ever be normally engaged or used.
So if its hardly ever used by the PCM - is this still a major concern?
I myself have kept track so far this year & as of yesterday - Mine has come on 11 times this year.
I have watched Marions Video on this and have started at least every couple months have checked the tightness of this connection. (Jiggle Test)

Anything below 55*F will turn heater on if you let it WTS.
If it’s actually cool (thirties and lower not sure exact temp) it will cycle on and off while running until truck is warm.
it’s hard on batteries which is why mine is disconnected and it’s an emissions piece.
These trucks start fine in 0 degrees and colder weather.
