Do you all think the CP4 would be fine to run with a fass lift pump and Opti-lube XPD additive, or do you think I should still do the CP3 retrofit?
I use it for work and will be putting roughly 100,000 miles/year on the truck.
Thanks in advance.

I’ve had 8 pumps come apart at the dealership I work at. Most had 20k miles or less.
I don’t know if it’s a lube or pressure issue since the roller assembly turns in the pump.
I would probably convert to CP3 after warranty up.

OK thanks for the input. From the research I've done, it seems to be a lubrication issue due to the biodiesel we run over here in the States. Lubricating the CP4 with higher amounts of pressure along with a lubricity additive was my thinking on how to prolong the life of the CP4. Both of which I am already using but I also only have 7500 miles on the truck currently....oh and the warranty is already voided from installing the Fass system soooo.....yeah.
The Gen 1 CP4 is an asymmetrical cam design which is why they fail. The gen 2 uses a symmetrical cam which would make it comparable to a CP3.

Yeah but still having problems with sym pumps. I have a sym pump in my stall right now that FCA and rear fuel filter are full of metal so idk

Interesting. I haven’t heard of any of the new pumps failing. All of the blown pumps have been the asym ones at my store.

Yeah I thought the same thing. This one came in running but had high rail pressure code.
Called star to order pump and told them it was a new style. They had me check volume on transfer pump. They thought maybe transfer pump came apart and put metal in system.

Using an aftermarket part won’t void a vehicle warranty unless the dealer can prove that part caused the failure under the magnuson-moss act.

Yup.
Had a dealer try to void one for aftermarket clutch when tranny went.
Didn't work for them cause of that Supreme Court case.

I hear ya, but it It was the extended warranty company that said it voided the warranty, not the dealership.
So I canceled it and got my $4k back.
I then called the dealer and asked them to clarify and they couldn't give me any definitive answers.
So I'm just going to precede as if it's voided and hope I don't need it!
