Hey folks, greetings.
I just joined the forum, been a Cummins owner for a couple of years now.
I have a 2017 RAM 2500, running EGRLess tune.
All has been flawless until about a month ago or so.
I'm getting a P003A, P00AF and U010C engine codes. all seems to be pointing to the actuator. turbo still makes boost, exhaust brake works.
I've not checked max boost, but it seems to be fine.
I took it to a shop. they recommended I take it to a dealer and that it would need a new actuator AND turbo.
The truck has 43K miles on it so I was puzzled. then the shop stated it's cheaper to replace both as the actuator is part of the turbo.
So first, is it me or does this sound totally wrong?
The actuator is clearly a separate part, correct?
Also, does any of this sound like a turbo replace?
I'm not sure how they came to this diagnosis.
I told them to stand down while I come get my truck.
Any thoughts?
I REALLY do not want to visit the dealer as I feel I'll get screwed since I changed the tune.
I'm sure the warranty is no good, and lastly is there a DIY actuator that can be installed?
Removing and installing the actuator looks relatively simple, but I have no calibration tools.
Any help would be great.
I have to get this fixed ASAP.
Thanks all
