So I changed back to the Delo 400 and have also changed the CCV filter. Now just need to let the truck cool so the exhaust brake will kick in again.

Hopefully this will take care of it. How did your CCV filter look?

It was black and saturated with oil.

I’m really curious if this helps.

Makes me nervous that a seal or something is going on with turbo.

Nothing changed other than oil when I started to see and smell though.

Need to get @DRD tunes soon too.

    Tired of the box tunes.

Does anyone know signs of what would be going on if my grid heater is going out?

What makes you think you’re grid heater is going out? Have you checked the “killer bolt” ?

asking because someone told me I could get that smell and smoke on startup with it not functioning. Address invalid.

Depending on outside air temperature you’re truck will idle rough until warm without the grid heater.

Not sure about the smell and smoke.

Several folks here are running without grid heaters, they may be able to comment further.

Meanwhile you can check the operation of your grid heater with a DC clamp-on amp meter or check for voltage drop at the batteries.

    So update.

I changed back to Delo 400 15w-40 and also changed out CCV filter.

Just put about 1500 miles on it for hunting trip and all seems fine.

Gonna keep an eye on it.

2015 CCSB, HBS level, soft canopy & tonneau cover. Other mods as well.

    2016 CCSB G56 with same(50k)

    Good news!

Sounds like you were getting some oil into the turbo intake from the saturated CCV Filter.
