Personally I would recommend keeping it, but replace it at 25K intervals. I replaced mine at 47K and it was completely saturated with a small amount of oil on the intake side of the turbo.

I was an advocate for leaving it due to the benefits of sealing rings it was supposed to aid with.
I just did a turbo swap on mine and was surprised at the amount of film the turbo vanes had.
First filter was replaced at 67k per manual and upon checking the replacement after seeing that and 20k miles it was noticeably heavy and straight black.
I am not sure how much more it would hold.
I gutted my new filter and have heater hose run below the truck now.
I really didn’t want to replace one every 15k with my oil which is why I chose this route.

I like negative crank case pressure for sealing rings and keeping seals in good shape.
The CCV system seems to create to much negative pressure though.
On average I replace one timing gear housing gasket that gets sucked in a month under warranty.
My personal truck was leaking. When I went second gen swap that deletes the CCV the leak stopped.

I have a new CCV on order and now talking to a few guys they are almost thinking my turbo actuator could be going bad.
So I think I’m also going to pull off my intercool pipe and see if I have a lot of oil there too.

Little update.
Did some investigating tonight and took off my intake by the turbo (pic for reference) and did notice some oil.
Do not remember the oil there when I did the delete portion.
Even stuck my finger up the 3/4” hose and got some oil out.
Got a few more ideas and will work on this weekend.

Do the CCV delete and you won’t get the oil dripping into the turbo inlet.

I’m wondering if that is why I am smelling the oil burning during EB warm up. I’m testing a few things out to see.
