    Carli Ball Joints And Track Bar



    Check out the wear on these old ball joints.

    They are the stock ones on my 2012 2500 4x4.

    They have 125,000 miles on them.

    I'm in the process of replacing them with some of the Carli ball joints.

    Pretty expensive but man are they nice looking and knowing I'll never have to do them again I thinking its worth it.

    Putting in the Carli track bar and steering stabilizer as well.

    Also figured I'd replace the wheel bearings and tie rod and drag link while I'm at it. Hoping that he t vibration I have in the wheel goes away.

    Has anyone done a track bar before?

    Any tips for installing it?

    New Carli joints installed!

    You'll notice the grease fitting is removed off the bottom one.

    Definitely take it out. I broke the first one off with the axle when putting it back in the tube.

    Got it out and replace but got lucky with that.

    You have to file the bottom of the spindle around were the ball joint goes through to make clearance for the thicker joint.

    New tie rod going in. So what I did with mine to keep my alignment right after installed the new tie rod is with the wheels straight, i used a tape measure to run down the length of the tie rod from the passenger side before I removed the old one and measured from the inside of the drivers side tierod attach point to the inside of the passenger inside tierod attach point. I got a measurement of 59 5/8ths on mine. Once the new tie rod is in, adjust the tierod to match the old measurement. That will get you straight enough to easily get it to a shop to do a real alignment. The drag link i straightened the wheels, put it on the ground and adjusted it until it easily fit in the pitman arm with the steering wheel also pointed straight. Torqued and cotterkeyed everything then drove it a few hundred feet to get it settled in then let the steeringwheel settle into where the truck wanted to drive straight and stopped. I then went back under the truck and adjusted the drag link until the wheel was straight and torqued everything back down. Now the wheel and the truck should agree on what way the truck is moving.

    Look at the difference between the stock track bar and the new Carli one.

    I'd say its a bit beefier.
