    ECM Searching

So I tried using the search bar at the top but it is saying I don't have permission.

Anyhow, I've been having some problems out of my 2014 RAM 6.7L and my mechanic is leaning towards the ECM.

I just got off the phone with the local dealer and a new ECM price is $4250.

Has anyone on here dealt with any remanufactured ECMs?

What are your symptoms? Depending on how honest your dealer is, your problem may be something small.

I work on nothing but dodge diesels at the dealer

I’ve only replaced a hand full of Ecms on the 4th gens they rarely and I mean rarely go bad unless truck got struck by lightning.

Wire harness issues on the other hand almost daily.

    Re: ECM Searching

Right now the truck is with a local guy that came well recommended.

I have yet to take it to a dealer in which may be my best bet at this point?

Symptoms were hard start, surge at idle, loss of power, low fuel pressure code, shut off, code all injectors at shut off.

My highest tune is where all of this occurred. It would run then start losing power (limp mode possibly?) then shut off.

Throwing a low fuel pressure code and codes for injectors.

Beforehand I could get on the pedal fairly easy and she would dump fuel, roll coal, and get gone pretty good.

Now, no fuel dump or coal, not as good acceleration at all, idle sure, and poor throttle response.

At tune a step down from this, the truck seems to run better but not 100%, still idle surge and not as good acceleration or throttle response.

From what I've been told, mechanic has checked voltage at injectors and solenoids and some wiring.

He has not taken the valve cover off.

I'm not a mechanic by any means so bear with me trying to explain all this.

He also said it seems as though the ECM is sending a call out for higher voltage to the injectors but is not getting anything back.

Any help would be appreciated as I have been down a truck for 3 weeks now.

This thing has got us scratching our heads with no direction to really go in.

Should I take it to the dealer?

Will they have equipment to be able to determine what's going on better?

Is there anything else I can tell him to check that he may have not looked over?

Has he verified fuel quantity is in spec for both low side and high side?
