    Tuning and Timing

On the DRD tunes, is the timing advanced when you throttle hard?

Reason why I ask is when I stomp the go go pedal (you know, to pass someone) the engine sounds like it has pre-ignition going on.

It's never sounded like that before is the reason I'm asking.

    Is this normal?

Just not used to a tuned diesel I guess?

Timing is advanced some over stock but what you hear is the sound of more fuel going in over stock.

It just makes for more noise off boost as the pilot injection is not as effective in quelling combustion noise under those situations.
