Excuse the poor quality, kind of hard to record it while driving.

This time I heard some gnarly turbo bark.

    I don’t usually hear that.

Is it possible it’s not getting enough air through the factory filter box?

It’s an upgraded filter, and I added more holes to the box.

    Thanks for the video.

I have never seen that issue before.

I believe I read somewhere on this forum that the stock air box and filter could handle up to 500HP without issue.

Hopefully someone else can verify this.

My brothers truck does exactly that.

With the turbo bark and all.

He does not have the oem filter box.

    His is also an 08.

    It can be quite violent.

Still appears to be a drained fuel rail to me.

    Possibly CP3 is tired?

His truck has 100 hp sticks.

Does fuel pressure climb to 25000 psi at wot on lower hp settings?

If it does then you can eliminate rp sensor.

Start looking at increasing fuel flow or checking

If anyone has any info as to what is causing the cutout, as shown in the video (page 1).

I would greatly appreciate some insight. I am having a similar issue.

    Thanks team!

    I can’t really hear it.

    Is it a combustion knock?

Or does it just cut out altogether?

My first thought would be rail pressure, but I’m not too good with diesels.

I am leaning towards fuel rail pressure as well.

In my particular case, it happens to me about mid-throttle, hits 20 lbs of boost, then cuts out.

The turbo barks a bit from the instant loss, not like a sputter but a full cut-off of power.

I was just curious if others have had a similar issue.

I ordered a fuel pressure gauge, so that we will see.

I'll try to get a video as well.

    Thanks.

I wanted to report back on my issue.

In my particular case, I was getting a turbo surge that caused the de-fueling.

I contacted DRD and got set up with a new ECM file.

I loaded the file and drove it around with no more issues.

    Problem solved.

Now waiting for the next one.

    Take care, team.

Can you elaborate a little more on this?

I have the same issue in my G56 truck on the race tune.

    Thanks!

    I'm sorry I didn't update this—my mistake.

Tuning did not fix the issue.

It was the actuator causing the issue and the turbo itself being an issue.

Most people will find it to be the actuator causing this problem.

In my particular case, the wholly calibrated power stealth 64 turbo causing the issue.

    A few reasons.

After talking with a handful of people and internet reading, it was found that calibrated power and many others use discount Chinese parts.

My calibrated power turbo used a Chinese center section and actuator.

After three failed actuators, they refunded me the money.

They should use genuine Borg or Holeset parts, especially for the price.

Calibrated and many other companies aren't, that is a problem.

The actuator arm on my turbo never retracted to the default position as it should.

Under heavy load, it would just quit working.

I found this out through a video from a company called Turbo Time USA.

    Interesting stuff there.

I recommend checking their videos out.

No amount of tuning can fix sloppy tolerances and cheap parts, as Turbo Time says, and I agree.

What fixed my issue ultimately was moving away from the VGT.

I have an S369 now and will try a five-blade S366 here in a few weeks.

Turbo time can un **** your VGT.

I didn't want to mess with it anymore, and it wasn't worth the cost.

I hope that helps a bit.

If you have any other questions, let me know.

Re: Engine Cuts Out At WOT

Thank you for the reply and updates!

I bet it is my actuator going bad as well.

Stock turbo here, but If I went away from VGT, I would miss the exhaust brake.
