    Loss Of Electrical Power

I was driving home today and traveling about 40mph when my trucks electrical shuts completely down.

It lasted for a few seconds, maybe 10 at the most before it came back but first with all the idiot lights like I was just starting it up.

    Engine kept running however.

My first thought is something to do with the keyfob but not sure.

    Any suggestions?

    Edit: No DTC Codes

Check all your grounds, battery connections to make sure they are good, clean and tight.

Also check your fuse box to make sure all the fuses are pushed down snug.

I agree with watersupply - also a wild shot but replace the battery in your key fob as well.

Electrical issues are a nightmare to troubleshoot - but normally comes back to a loose ground or bad ground or loose battery connection or just a weak battery.

Checked battery connections yesterday and they were tight.

Can't do too much with the rain but tried to run it today and had complete stall twice.

Only changes I made recently was adding the EGT to my exhaust manifold and MM3.

Thinking something is loose or it's my ignition switch.

Update: connections are good. Which I should figure since my batteries weren't draining. What it is are the aftermarket keyfobs that are now faulting after about 8 months. Luckily, I still have a OEM keyfob. The reason I went aftermarket was the buttons on the OEM were no longer working. I guess I'll just carry both fobs for now.

Yep that could be the issue. I don’t think you mentioned before that it was aftermarket fobs? If you did, I didn’t see that. Glad you got it figured out friend.

No I didn't mention because I didn't think it would matter that much.

    Turns out it does.

    Re: Loss Of Electrical Power

Update: So I kept thinking, 8 months is a pretty short time for a keyfob to fail even if it's aftermarket.

I did a little more research and found others with the same issue and the fix was fairly simple.

The WIN module, or better known as the ignition switch, is easily removed and the contacts can be cleaned.

The video I watched, the guy mentioned spraying it down with brake cleaner.

I couldn't see using brake cleaner with electronics so just used rubbing alcohol and operated the switch a bunch of times to clean the contacts.

Plenty of videos on YouTube about this.

I did this and have had no problem, to this point with a very small sample size, with the aftermarket keyfob.

    Thanks for posting the fix.

It's great to see you found the issue, hate those electrical gremlins.
