2008 2500: AC Is Off At Each Engine Start

Another anomaly with my new to me truck.

While it has a poor AC like many others have reported it does work and it does cool just not great.

My problem is that every time I start the truck I have to press the AC button to turn the AC on (engage the compressor).

Turn the truck off and then restart the button has to be pressed again.

The ON light on the button is not lit until it is pressed.

Any ideas on what may be causing this?

    Thanks!

Have you had it checked to see how much Freon is in the system?

    Could be low.

I wanna say that might be normal kinda like the exhaust brake defaults to off when truck is turned off.

Maybe someone else can check that.
