MM3: All Custom Files Are Gone

My new to me 08 RAM is throwing new challenges at me daily.

This morning a friend was sitting in the truck looking at things while I was busy with a project.

Never did it cross my mind he could potentially mess up the MM3 Tuner.

This afternoon I went to move the truck and the check engine light was on. I went to the MM3 to see what was up. That was when I noticed the POD, Switch and RT buttons were dark!

Looking further it appears he installed the stock file and deleted all the tune files (my terminology may be off on this!).

I went to the ECM button and none of my tune files were there. I did manage to install the trans 170 tune and after that the Switch button was back on. But…still no POD or RT buttons.

I pulled the SD card and copied it to my PC. From there under Custom > RT, I can see all my files/tunes that I could previously see on the MM3 (picture attached). However, I still can’t figure out how to return it to the way it was before the “incident!”

I contacted the person I bought the truck from and he finally remembers that he used a company called T&K Performance when he bought the MM3. I can’t find any info on such a company that references anything about the MM3.

So…I am at a complete loss. Suggestions?

    Thanks!

This is a screen shot showing two messages on the screen (didn't have those before today's debacle) as well as showing the POD and RT buttons that are empty (not lit).

It sounds like the SD card has failed friend.

    Thanks!

Should the SD card be formatted to FAT32?

I will reformat the old one and try it.

If that doesn't work I'll get a new one.

    BTW...love your tag line.

Just wanted to point out the MM3 is SD card size sensitive, so if you purchase a new card keep it small capacity.

I am not sure what the max size is but I would go with 16GB or less to be sure.

Did you check all the connections?

    Maybe something got bumped loose.

Thanks for the heads up on the SD card size.

I will be replacing it this morning.

    Yes, connections have been checked.

What should the speed limiter be set at?

OH...and what exactly does that do...Limit the physical MPH of the truck?

    Thanks!

Depending on who wrote your tunes the speed limiter may have been turned off, but will still be on when using cruse control. Yes when on it limits the MPH of the truck, so set it according to your preference.

Re: MM3: All Custom Files Are Gone

    Still No Joy...

I had business to handle this morning so unplugged the OBD cable and the cable in the engine compartment. While I was out I picked up a new SD card. Got back home and loaded the files onto the card. Installed the card in the MM3, plugged in the data cable in the engine compartment (plug was clean but I did add a little dielectric compound...love that stuff) and then reconnected the OBD plug. After that I let it sit about an hour while I tended to other things.

Battery charger on. I installed the ECM file and it seemed to do fine. Afterwards I could see my tunes via the RT button and I loaded one of the tow tunes. Nothing odd. My check engine light is still on and the DTC is listing a comm problem with the TCM. Cleared the code and nothing changes. So I don't know if the files somehow got corrupted when my friend uninstalled them accidently that is another thought.

In attempting to install the transmission file (170LP). It goes through the sequence and when finished it goes into a rewrite and installs the OEM file. I have attached a link to a 7.5 minute video that shows what is happening. I tried to edit out most of the sit and wait parts! BUT...it does clearly show the loop that I am in.

Please take a look at the video and point me in the right direction!

Thanks again for all the help. It is appreciated!
