Re: MM3 Tuner - Blinking Red and Green Lights

My truck has sat for over a week, get in and notice the MM3 display is not on and the lights are blinking, red, red, green, red, red.

I found a thread about this same issue (link below) and unplugged it and let sit all night. Plugged it in this AM and started truck, still blinking red, red, green, red, red. I noticed someone said to unplug and then plug back in while the truck running, will try that next.

With respect to my trucks batteries, less than a year old. ....yeah, I know, that doesn't mean anything.

I'll have them checked JUST to be sure.

Unplugged and plugged screen back in while running, no effect. No screen and still has blinking lights.

Found this in another thread, from Ray at DRD.

"If you turn on your key and the display flashes the green and red lights with no picture then you have an SD card problem.

You will either need to reformat or replace your SD card.

Remember if you reformat your card, you will be erasing all data on it so save the .ecm and .rtg files that I've installed on your SD in the custom folder before hand to your PC.

Reformat with the FAT32 format. Reinstall the latest update for the MM3 on the SD card next. The update files for the MM3 can be found here: http://mm3power.com/downloads/

Next paste your ecm and rtg files back into the appropriate folders. If you start with a new SD card, use the same procedure."

Should I be having a SD card problem three weeks into this?

Only one way to find out.

    Follow those steps and see.

USB cable on mine back in the day was the culprit, but I unplugged and plugged mine in multiple times a day.

    Thanks!

I sent a PM to Ray and asked him, my thought is/was before I start doing to much diagnosis, at 3 weeks this should be a warranty issue with the MM3, cable or what not.

I know the install is good, everything was done in a professional manner (nothing cut, pulled, spliced, yanked, etc.) and truck batteries are good.

Ray gave me an email address to make some inquiries.

Hopefully I can get this resolved without much heartache.

    Will post my progress.

Keep in mind formatting and updating the sd card don't cost a dime, and mini USB cables are a dime a dozen and chances are you got one laying around your house somewhere.

I see what you are saying though, but for me the least amount headache would be to try all that first.

MM3 will most likely want the unit to check it.

Received an email from Ray and a link to a video.

After the initial checking of wires, connections, etc., I found nothing wrong.

The first step is to start the truck, unplug the OBD port plug, and plug back in.

Just doing that fixed the blank screen and blinking lights.

    THANKS, RAY!!

Both batteries load tested (individually) and both are good.

Sorry for necroposting, but I have been having this issue, and I just unplug it and back in.

This morning I went to water the yard and noticed the MM3 blinking while the truck is off for like 20 hours and looked at the voltage on the truck info center and read 11.

    Guess I'll get them tested.

The truck has been starting and operating as normal otherwise.
