Your vehicle is only as strong as its weakest link.
I found that out this past Friday.
As I was headed for Truckee, CA with my toy hauler, I started hearing a groaning/grinding noise. (I had heard my flexplate start to make a small squeaking noise a few days earlier.) I quickly reached for my Smarty and turned the Power on Demand down to 45%. I knew at that moment- I wasn't going to go to Truckee. I slightly rolled back into the throttle and then BAM! Tons of clunking metal on metal. I quickly threw the pickup into neutral, turned it off, and drove myself off the freeway.
Needless to say, I had a friend tow the trailer back to the house and the Truck went to the shop.
My buddy (the mechanic who is going to work on it) wanted to hear what it sounded like. So he started it.
Prepare to cringe.
I had put Suncoast innards in the trans when I lost my 1-2 shift; didnt have the money for a new torque converter or billet flexplate.
I'll be purchasing both of those this week.
So in closing, if you're going to be throwing down power- be sure that your drivetrain can handle it.
Truth be told... I ain't even mad.
Anyway, have a good night, y'all.
Josh
