    Flexplate woes.

Your vehicle is only as strong as its weakest link.
I found that out this past Friday.
As I was headed for Truckee, CA with my toy hauler, I started hearing a groaning/grinding noise. (I had heard my flexplate start to make a small squeaking noise a few days earlier.) I quickly reached for my Smarty and turned the Power on Demand down to 45%. I knew at that moment- I wasn't going to go to Truckee. I slightly rolled back into the throttle and then BAM! Tons of clunking metal on metal. I quickly threw the pickup into neutral, turned it off, and drove myself off the freeway.

Needless to say, I had a friend tow the trailer back to the house and the Truck went to the shop.
My buddy (the mechanic who is going to work on it) wanted to hear what it sounded like. So he started it.
    Prepare to cringe.

I had put Suncoast innards in the trans when I lost my 1-2 shift; didnt have the money for a new torque converter or billet flexplate.
I'll be purchasing both of those this week.

So in closing, if you're going to be throwing down power- be sure that your drivetrain can handle it.

Truth be told... I ain't even mad.
Anyway, have a good night, y'all.

    Josh

I pucker and cringe whenever I hear it.
I'll be so glad when she's fixed and beefier than before.

I hate hearing things like that! When ever I hear grinding and crunching sounds I know my wallet is going to take a beating. Good to read that you have a good friend and a mechanic you trust. Hopefully your transmission did not suffer any damage. Maybe your mechanic will be able to check things over that may have been stressed. After you get it together this time your truck should be stronger at least. What power mods have you installed on your truck?

    Good luck with your repairs!

Most definitely! It'll be more robust and sharper once it's been re-worked.

    Currently, I have the following:
    30LPM Industrial injectors
    Modified CP3
    Air Dog II Fuel System
    S&B Intake
    5"MBRP w/ visual cat.
48RE w/Suncoast innards and Billet Gov. press. solenoid.
Smarty Jr. 100HP tune, running at 75% power with moderate torque and timing

Just picked up a cat racing flexplate. I'll see how stout it looks when it gets here
