    Ticking Noise HELP!

Dealer investigate the noise, charged to me to replace the injector for cylinder 6 and a valve adjustment.

It didn’t fix the noise and the truck shutters when in 6th gear in the highway empty and I just slightly accelerate.

They basically just told me to drive it truck is fine.

Mine sounds the same when cold and has not run for a day or so. It stops when the truck warms up. I figured it was the hydraulic lifters needing some oil. Does yours tick all the time?

So if this sound is the only happens when the engine is cold and goes away when its warm then this is normal. valve lash is loose when engine is cold. oil is in crank and pan. There is also the injection pump (CP3) timing.
if this sound is constant I would first do the cheap. if you dont run a fuel and injector cleaner. put some in tank and go run the truck for a good 50+ miles at a higher RPM and constant normal engine temp.
these Common rails need the fuel system run hot and blown out so to speak. Kinda like your Nose. if you dont have any codes popping up on dash and you continue to have this sound. then I would check where the sound is more prominent
with truck at idle get a 4 foot heater hose piece and use ear and act like its a stethoscope. you can get a close idea where its coming from. this is really helpful with dealing with leaks. on the exhaust manifold or all the emission crap on the top of engine.

Sound is constant when the truck is cold or has been running all day.

The shutter has me more concerned.

I will get some fuel treatment just to try but I don’t know if that’ll help or not.

Besides the new injector and timing done.

Did you recently do any head work or add Head studs.

The aluminum head spacer can be put on off center and this usually puts it resting up against a head stud.

You get an annoying metallic tick sound to a metallic vib growl.

    Ha if that makes sense.

Well, it’s been towed to the dealer.

The truck broke down on me today.

Here’s what it sounded like before it died.
