    5" Exhaust Vibration

    What’s up guys.

I recently installed my FLO~PRO 5” TBE and am having a weird vibration at idle.

I’ve messed with it but can’t seem to figure out where it’s coming from.

Truck did not do it before with just the delete pipe so it has to be this exhaust.

    Maybe a hanger or something?

Just looking for any input or if anyone has had a similar issue.

    Thanks

    I’ll add.

It does this at idle only.

When you say vibration do you mean that or a rattle kind of noise?

Check your exhaust heat shield to make sure it’s not touching the pipe.

I had several rattles after installing my delete pipes during the 200 mile relearn period.

I just kept a few wrenches and sockets handy when I'd pull into my driveway.

    1) the tailpipe section had shifted and was hitting the heat shield for the spare.

    2) the c clamps required one section to be tightened. (Allowed tailpipe section to twist a bit hitting heat shield again)

    3) both hangar clamps needed snugged up.

Went in that order, each presented after about 50 miles or so and came after one another (or I didn't notice it until fixing the first)

Your down pipe is probably rubbing the frame.

You'll need to take the down pipe off and you'll see exactly where it's rubbing.

Take a hammer and make an indention in the down pipe so it'll clear the frame.

This is extremely common on some trucks that have 5" down pipes.

Make sure the V-band is good and tight.

Mine had a vibration at idle in gear not moving, the V-band/down pipe were the culprit.

It was only a few turns, made a big improvement.

    I have seen this scenario.

I just finally fixed mine after a year of intermittent rattling.

Mine was actually just the last tail pipe section right after the bend over the rear axel.

Removed and hammered a dent for clearance and is perfect now.

So maybe start there and look if its rubbing and then move on to the down pipe.

My 2011 has a 5" TBE that is at least five years old, likely far older.

When I bought it almost a year ago, it had a chrome tip on the exhaust, which was getting some rust, and drew far too much attention, so I took it off.

It never rattled at all prior, but as soon as I took the tip off it began the same at low idle intermittent rumble/rattle.

I've climbed back and forth on multiple occasions, it's not hitting anywhere!

The V-band is something I'll try, after soaking it with some liquid wrench.

    Frustrating for sure!
