    Fleece Coolant Bypass

I was wondering if anyone has put the fleece coolant bypass on their motor?

    Any problems with it?

And for the auto trans people, does it effect your transmission by not having the fluid to fluid heat exchanger on the motor any more?

I'm up in upstate NY and while I plan on limiting my truck going out in the winter (due to the salt) I know it will still be used some in the winter, are there any negative effects for the trans in the cold weather not having that heat exchanger?

I searched before I posted and didn't find any posts on this, if I missed them I'm sorry!

    Thanks!

    Re: Fleece Coolant Bypass

I had one installed when my truck went in for a blown head gasket.

I haven't been in as much cold weather as you are, but using the block heater helps to heat the transmission up a bit.

It only takes a few minutes of driving before my transmission is over 100F.

Summertime and even pulling a trailer I haven't seen over 180F.

I wanted it installed because the PO deleted the truck and that was just blocked off.

I didn't want a hot pocket to possibly crack a head down the road.

I’m running it on my truck.

    I love it.

    Help keep it cool.

It was 97 degrees here yesterday in central fl.

The truck doesn’t see much cold weather, but I do take it to Alabama during hunting season, and it sees temps 10-35 degrees.

I just plug it in before I go to bed, and everything works fine.

    Re: Fleece Coolant Bypass

I have one on my truck, but it’s a 2015.

I think they did away with the heat exchanger at some point.

No issues with the trans, but I’m sure we have a different trans.

The new thermostat keeps the motor cooler opening at like 180 or just before like 178.

I don’t know that it needs to be that cold, but I don’t think it’s hurting anything.

    Re: Fleece Coolant Bypass

    I'm in Upstate, and I got an '04 3500 NV5600.

I threw the fleece bypass on when I was stationed out in Cali.

The only issue I ever had was ONE o-ring needing replacement, so I just bought their service kit and have extras now.

I have NEVER had an issue with it; never too cold or overheated.

If you have any questions, I could give you a shout and whatnot.

    Thanks, Rabbit
