Runs for 20 Seconds and Shuts Off

Finally found the fuel supply line.

    I was looking for.

Got it changed everything back up and together.

Now the truck won’t stay running.

Fuel filter housing runs half way dry.

Fill it up runs for 20 seconds and shuts off.

I’ve done this at least 15 times and keep the truck running.

    It’s a 2012 2500 6.7L Cummins.

Is there a way to prime the fuel or any ideas?

Did you cycle your key to the on position and back off several times?

This should prime the filter, if not you maybe sucking air in someplace.

Tried cycling the key that’s a no go.

Still only runs for 20 seconds and shuts off.

I’m not sure what could be the issue.

Maybe someone with better knowledge on fuel systems will chime in shortly.

FASS fuel system and Beans sump might be in your future.

    Weird that it starts.

Lift pumps usually either work or they don't at all.

My 2012 lift pump took a dump when fairly new and a new one couldn't be found in the entire state.

FASS fuel installed the next day.

Did you disconnect the fuel line from the housing and turn the key on to see if it keeps pumping?

One other thing I’ve noticed is fuel tank is reading empty but I’ve put 15 gallons in it and low fuel light is still on.

Still has original barriers think anyway batteries could be going out.

You need to check voltage at lift pump and sending unit with key on.

Two very quick questions for you then a couple things to check when your back to working on your truck.
    1. What all did you disconnect when replacing your fuel supply line? i.e. Your front fuel filter housing electrical connector
    2. Did you for any reason remove your lift assist from your tank?
Unplug the electrical connector at your filter housing. You should see a three wire connector. Without having the last 8 of your vin I cannot get specific on which is power, ground and signal reference in the connector. Ground is normally a black wire and you should have 0v with your key in the ON position. Power will be on the opposite side, you should find 12v with the key on. Signal wire will be your remaining wire, you should find no more than 5v on the wire. Simple test is to take 2 wires. a light socket for any headlight bulb, and a headlight bulb. Put the bulb in the socket, add the wires to the pins in the connector. Plug the test light setup in to your connector in place of filter housing. Turn key to run and see if bulb lights as bright as connecting it to the posts on your battery. If so you have coms and your wiring is carrying the signal. If you can run an ohm test on that connector you should not find over 5ohms, if you do you have an open in the engine wiring harness. You can do the very same test with the connector at your lift assist in tank. Check your wiring that runs along the inside of the left frame rail. It is possible to have pinched the harness while removing or installing the tank, as well there is a possibility of accidently pulling a pin out of those two connectors. The connector on the tank can be a pain in the butt at times to fully seat in place and lock. If you dropped your tank to replace the fuel supply line there is a chance you might have sifted the float and it is not reset itself. If any dirt of other nastiness got onto the float it will keep it from rising and faling as designed. I know this is a lot of info, I had a 12 last week that was reading empty with a full tank. I removed the tank and cleaned the lift assist in tank and everything read correctly. Granted that was a farm truck and the guy wasn't using quality fuel. I hope this does help you out or at least provide information you can use.
