Just curious, what's your reasoning? Yea the black diamond oil is a stout oil.

With the emissions in tact I would say be selective with what oil formulations you run due to the extra ZDDP in some oils can create a lot more soot & cause more Regens - which in most minds not a good thing...
Much more wear & tear early on the system components...I

I'm going to run the GD - until deletion - then add a single or dual by-pass system & switch to BD...

Great idea with the kits! (1 stop shop with a Great product)

Don't get me wrong, it's a great oil and meant to be used with today's emission laden diesel trucks... and is backward compatible. But if the truck is deleted, there's even better choices for soot control and wear protection. Heck, all name brand oils are good. Just depends what the owners needs and preferences are. Hoyt disclaimer: my opinion derived from research and own experience. Not an expert by any means.

I was just curious on why you say that on a deleted truck. Soot content would be much less on a deleted versus a factory truck. Just curious my friend, we all learn from each other!

Right on! Since I go for extended intervals, I want the best oil I can find. I may have to give your Black series a try next go round.

So what kind of life expectancy can be had with factory filtering?

Is it worth it to switch to this, or is a bypass setup needed?

As long as your truck is healthy and you change the filters at the proper intervals it's safe to say you'd get at least 25k+ miles.

If it were me I'd swap the filter out every 10k miles versus 15k miles.

A bypass is the best way to go if you want to achieve the longer intervals.

Clayton: I think it would be a (Interesting) Idea for owners whom make the switch to HSS - to take advantage of the UOA kit and once they get the results back - Share the report with others within this Thread!

This way others can visually see the actual results.
