So the Civic had some horrible left over tint on it that I decided to remove. I have also now understood why shops charge $75/hr to remove old adhesive....woof. Anyways, I pulled all the old tint off the car, rear defroster didn't survive unfortunately, but that's ok...we don't need those here in the desert. Tried my best to retint the car, but that failed. So my dealership is tinting it on Monday for about the same price as I was going to pay doing it myself...can't argue with that.

Pictures as soon as I get around to converting them to JPG

Perks of working for a dealership, I booked the car out and pulled carfax.

4 owners. Cali and Arizona. Religiously maintained every 3-5k miles. No major mechanical. Straight body. Clean title.

Car needs some work, radiator fan switch is bad (or car is missing a thermostat, not sure yet), needs tires, passenger window looks like a bear attacked it, and the tint needs replacing. But interior is incredibly clean, car drives straight, AC is ice cold, transmission shifts great, motor sounds excellent...all for 192,000 miles. Walked away at $2150. 5 year plates are $25. Tires are $150 new. Fan switch is $13. And it gets 40mpg.

Wife has wanted us to have a car we could wrench on together for years..couldn’t have picked a better option. I’ll randomly post about this piece on the OT forum as I plan to overhaul this car on a small budget and make it into a practical, good condition daily.

Very nice, my daily is a 2008 Honda Accord with 199k miles.

My wife bought it in 2010 with 50K on it.

The paint is poor but it's always been there for us.

    Nice!

You really can't go wrong with these cars.

They are inexpensive and easy to maintain. 5 year tag for me is $25.

Insurance is $89/mo with full coverage & 0 deductible glass.

    And no car payment.

Polished out the headlights on the civic.

    Way better looking than before!

Got the wife involved with the process too, she had a good time taking the car apart and putting in a little elbow grease.

Yeah I was contemplating that. But I wanted the wife to get a chance to put in some work on the car without it being overkill. This was a great way to do something together that was fun and simple.

They aren’t great & both lights could really use a heavy cut and polish with a drill or orbital. But this thing is never going to be driven at night so it’s more just for looks
