    Transmission Service Recommendations

Hey guys just wondering when everyone does a trans service to their 68RFE?

Also do y’all do drain and fill with filters or a full flush?

I’m considering putting Amsoil AT4 in so was trying to get an idea on price.

When? = I feel - depends on your own Driving Style & Habits = No Towing / Light Duty Towing / Med to Heavy Towing... Or Just flat out driving like a uncivilized Human Being!

Personally - I would never do a flush. (Drop Pan & Change both filters on a routine Maintenance schedule)...

As for Brand of ATF & Type - That's a huge can of worms! My thoughts are to stick with a ATF+4 Certified Transmission Fluid...

I might not of helped a bit - but it's my thoughts and a simple opinion thrown in as well...

Edit: Some owners go 60K miles or more before their first service with no issues!

I tend to over think alot of things - 60K miles would be my sweet spot for a pan drop and change filters...

OK I’m at 30k right now and don’t tow.

It’s not exactly stock but nothing out of the ordinary if you catch my drift.

That does help though as far the flush vs drain and fill.

Since you don't tow - You could possibly extend your service to 50-60K miles - Pains me to say that.

Just use your best judgement - You know how much you either abuse it or don't.

If you have plans on keeping this Ram for many years past payoff - I wouldn't go past 60K miles.
If not? Well I wouldn't concern yourself to much with it.

The last few years I myself have read more then of a handful of reviews on the Amsoil ATF and the 68RFE getting along quite well.

EDIT: I've always been the one who performs the Service Early & asks questions later.

Yea I don’t beat on it but I’d certainly like to take care of it especially since performance transmissions are so expensive.

I figure change the fluid out early with Amsoil and hopefully get ahead of any issues down the line.

    I appreciate the input.
