    Re: Muffler Advice?

I took a video clip with my phone laying on rear bumper above exhaust outlet.

I don't know how to upload it on here.

30 seconds of video with start up, idle, 2,200 rpm, idle, 2,000 rpm, idle, shutoff.

It's louder than stock with turbo whistle at idle and hardly any noticeable difference inside with the windows up.

PM me your cell number and I can text it to you.

I am pleased with the sound.

Same truck, question, and same muffler as OP.

I only drone under power like a trailer pull up a big mountain pass and want to know if the 17" resonator will tame the drone when pulling hard.

Flatland cruising is no problem with droning.

    Thanks.

Hi, I need to quite my truck down it has a 5" exhaust with a muffler and it has some drone to it I would like it not to have any.

What do you think, would work with the muffler it's 30" long?

To reduce or eliminate the drone your best bet is to install a resonator.

A muffler will reduce the overall sound level and add some restriction, but you will still hear the drone.

    Thanks for your help.

What brand or type of resonator I don't know because I am new the the Dodge Cummins.

The truck I bought is a 2012 Ram Limited crew cab short box with only 29113 miles on it.

It's like new, shoes haven't even touch the floor mats the guy I got from took excellent care of it.

So all the help I can get is appreciated.

I did a full delete on it with a DRD turner.

FTE or Flo Pro are most popular. They all have similar straight through designs

Hey everyone, for threads like these it would be super helpful if you could post up videos of your exhaust setup so those with questions can hear how different setups sounds.

If you have any questions about how to upload a video feel free to PM me, I'm happy to help you out!

Hi all, sorry if I am bringing this thread back from the dead (yes, I am new to the community).

I was wondering if any of y'all had younger kids and what setup your running.

I have a 1.5 year old and one on the way.

I still want to be able to hear the truck, but I don't want it to be super loud for them.

    Thanks in advance!

I have mbrp with 4”. It’s not loud at all inside the cab. Sounds good and No drone. YouTube would be a good video sounds source to listen of different options and brands of exhaust. 4”-5”. Straight vs muffler.

30” FTE resonator after downpipe has worked well for my family.

It still sounds like a truck but no one has problems napping in the back seat.

If you really want it quiet you can put a muffler before tailpipe as well
