    Question On The Newer Cummins

    Hey yall, I picked up a 2018 2500 G56 this past fall.

I have owned several older Cummins, and my questions is regarding emissions.

Do you all think they have figured out these systems yet, or is it still a weak point?

I have already made up my mind on what I am going to do with it, hence why I am on this site.

I just really want to see what you all have to say or have seen with the emissions intact.

    Any info is always appreciated!

@tbh02160 it really depends on what your goals are and what you want to do.

I researched the replacement costs of all the emissions equipment (If any one of them should fail) once out of warranty - compared to the costs of total deletion & it's a No Brainer!

But! I live in a state that - as of today has nothing to do with state inspections...

Deletion & 4:10s & maybe 3500 rear springs installed - along with rear air bags & my major mods are finished.

I been seeing ramblings here and there about EGR goin away at least, but that's probably a good ways off

You still got all the ancillary crap on yours... unless the last owner done took care of that already.

If not, EGR coolers got a not so funny way of dumping coolant into yer intake and killing yer engine.

    Good stuff.... Truckers bring it

Re: Question On The Newer Cummins

The emissions systems on the newer trucks are significantly better than they were in the days when we had DPF filters and EGR without SCR.

The current systems seem to be reliable for longer, but they will still all fail at some point.

How the vehicle is used has a lot to do with it.

If you mostly use your vehicle for short trips and stay in town you will have problems sooner rather than later.

If you tow a lot and spend a lot of time on the interstate the emissions systems tend to fare pretty well for quite a while.

The problem is that when they do fail they tend to do it without warning and leave you in reduced power mode on the side of the road and repairs can be quite costly.
