    Free S/B Intake

So the title is not intended to be click bait but can see it possibly being just that.

However, I did get a free S&B intake from my neighbor a while back but I never installed it.

I just installed my DRD tunes and exhaust goes on tomorrow or Monday depending on FedEx.

I know most of what I read points towards staying stock with the intake, but if you had a free S&B intake with dry filters sitting in your garage, would you stay with the factory or would you go ahead and install it on your trucks?

And no, I’m not looking for anything crazy over 600hp (at this time)!

I can only speak for myself: I will never have a need for a CAI.

Like yourself - I have no intentions of over powering the OEM Air intake system.

This system is actually very effective & efficient!

So the S&B would only be cosmetic engine bay eye candy in my case.

Even though the S&B brand is known to be very high quality & efficient - I would probably sell it to a younger 6.7L owner who thinks he or she just has to have it just to say they have a CAI.

Remember ---> In my case - My 6.7L would never benefit from installing it - so I would probably sell it for a very reasonable price.

It sounds like you’re on the fence.

Just send it my way and I’ll put it on my truck LOL.

I say install it and hang on the the factory airbox.

This way if you didn't like it you can go back to stock and pass the S&B on to someone else.

If you like the look of the S&B then install it.

    If not then stay stock

So yes, I am on the fence about it and it sounds like it would really be for looks.... performance wise nothing gained or lost either way is what I’m gathering....

Pretty much what it boils down to.

The stock airbox is more than capable up to 600hp & you don't have to worry about water ingestion either.

Depends on what you prefer on looks.

I personally would keep my stock box and sell the other.

    Re: Free S/B Intake

I picked up my S&B kit for a price I couldn't walk away from. Yes IMO.

I liked the look and i have on truck.

I have used the non oiled style filters for it.

I carry a extra one. I put a filter sock over it due to the amount of spruce tree needles I'm around and any bugs etc.

Keeps them out of the filter pleats.

Don't quote me and not turning this into a witch oil or filter is best type of thing but surface area on the S&B vs. stock I believe is bigger.

Doesn't mean it filters better but I would think?

    More area less resistance.

I noticed more turbo sound then stock too. I likey that.

    Again IMO.

I think if I lived in a really dusty environment

    I would stay stock.

SnB is a quality company, for free, no reason not to run it unless you dont like cleaning filters or the extra noise.
