    Tail Lights

So I ordered from @Geno's Garage, awesome experience there, a new tail light.

My passenger side has a crack in it and I need to replace it.

I looked up the part from Mopar, was 100% sure I got the right one.

Go to install it and noticed it's not the right one.

This one has a black frame.

All that he offers on the site are black framed.

    Mine is clear/white.

    Are my tail lights aftermarket?

My guess is it depends on the level of trim on your truck.

My truck is an SLT and it has the black framed tail lamps.

My 15 Laramie had clear framed taillights like the picture you posted.

The sport package/night edition/black appearance package trucks have black framed taillights.

    Re: Tail Lights

I appreciate the help from you all.

Doing some digging, these tail lights that I have are indeed OEM, and they're Laramie + from what I can find.

They're LED instead of halogen and instead of $64 bucks new, they're $230 new.

Also found if one of the LEDs goes out it will fast flash your signals and you have to replace the whole unit.

I've also found anywhere I look these are slated to be 2014+ lights as well.

I guess my next move is do I suck it up and pay the piper for one tail light or do I buy an aftermarket pair?

Anyone have aftermarket suggestions that are plug and play with the LED Laramie trim?

My .02 is pay the piper. The leds should last the life of the truck if you don’t burn them every second the truck is on/driven. Aftermarket lights for reputable ones will be just as expensive and the cheaper ones you’ll likely replace at some point

Yeah that's what I think I will end up doing.

I like the look of the factory lights anyway.

I bought the truck with a small crack in the cover which let some water in growing a bit of mold but the light still works fine.

Maybe I'll run it till it dies.
