Greetings - Power Steering - Heavy Brake Whine

Hello to all, and thanks for allowing me to be a part of the community.

I've owned my 2016 RAM 2500 6.7L since brand new, around 30k miles or so I started noticing an audible whine, all the time really, but def gets louder when I apply the brakes or when I am turning the wheel (p/s).

Took it in 3-4 times while still under warranty and was told it was a normal sound.

I wasn't convinced to say the least.

Almost 63k on the truck and it still does it, I've noticed that in the morning on cold starts if I hammer down on the brakes before I leave my driveway, the sound almost goes away.

All that being said, I have heard tales of high pressure p/s lines coming apart on the inside and possibly being a cause.

Any pros out there or anyone experienced anything similar?

Please be gentle this is my first post sorry to ramble.

    Thanks!

    Welcome!

    Haven’t experienced this issue either.

A video or sound clip would be interesting and may be useful.

    Will follow.

My 2010 has been doing that for 9 years now with no ill effects.

I’ve heard the same thing - the plastic lining inside the hose separates from the wall of the hose.

Greetings - Power Steering - Heavy Brake Whine

I am having the same issue. 33k on the clock.

The noise seems like an old Ford power steering noise.

It seems like it’s only there at lower RPM’s and I can definitely feel and hear it, but goes away after around 2 or 3rd gear.

Going slow and turning is awful sounding.

Power steering fluid is not foamy and it’s full and it doesn’t seem too hot.

I’ve looked around to see if there’s any signs of anything but everything is good and new so yea idk.

The weird thing is I know the trans is a learning trans and I try to drive like a grandpa but it seems like the trans skips over 3rd gear.

So idk if that’s a symptom or a sign or if it’s the trans doing it’s thing.

The truck is stock everything and still under warranty so I’m gonna make an appointment and get it in and let everyone know.

That’s if the stealership says that there is something wrong.
