Seems like the longer models are balanced better for the 2500 with the lighter hitch weight.

To be honest I am focusing more on my rear axle capacity more than payload, still going to do my best to stay under if possible nut the axle capacity as well as tire and wheel ratings matter more in my opinion.

The 2k payload is to keep us at or under 10k GVW 3/4 ton rating, but look at your door sticker.

Mine states 6k front and 6.5k rear for ratings on my 17 2500.

Somebody correct me if I am wrong please!

Maybe there is more to payload than I am thinking, maybe not?
I had one RV dealer tell me I couldn’t leave the lot with one over the payload of 2350 on my 19 2500. It’s under the total GVWR for the towing capacity. It seems the newer 2500s are lower than some of the older ones.

My 2013 Montana 3750 FL best I can tell puts about 2700 on the pin and weighs 14700 with my clothes and stuff in it. I’ll weigh it on this truck next time I’m at a truck stop that’s easy to get to the scale.

Yes that would be helpful to see a real world weight! Greatly appreciated. My payload is only 2000, but when looking at axle ratings I think the 2000 is to stay at the 3/4 ton 10k limit. But again I could be and probably am way off base on that.

Yeah I’m interested to get more opinions. I can see us slipping into the world of what you “can do” versus what you’re technically “allowed to do.” But when you’re in the ballpark of the factory ratings (or DOT ratings) I’m curious who generally errs on the side of caution and who just common sense tests it...

My total gross on my truck was 11k for the truck and 11.8k on the camper axles.

I tried to upload the scale ticket but it’s not cooperating this morning.

Awesome, thank you! How do you like your Montana? I made the mistake of walking into a high country with my wife and that is all she wants now hahaha.

    We like it pretty good.

We want more storage for one since it’s me full time almost and the wife and baby about half the time.

It’s a front living so it’s got a lot of space to relax.
