A SMF single shouldn't make much more noise in neutral than its DMF brother.

Also with a SMF, when lugging it below 1,600ish rpm, you hear gear rollover from the trans (kinda sounds like rocks in a can).

Nature of the beast though. It's a trade off for a more stout flywheel that can handle more power and towing abuse.
