    Fuel Filter Question

So I changed both my fuel filters like 5 months ago and put about 6000 miles on them!

There at 14% life on them and was wondering if I should change them or just reset it because then manual says to change them at like 12000 miles or so and I’m running the OEM fuel filters.

Reason I ask is the fuel filter life remaining on 2013s and newer take into account the gallons filtered not the actual mileage.

So lots of idling and or heavy towing would decrease the filter life.

Also a poor quality diesel would affect them as well but I don't know if the truck has a way to check for that or not.

You should fill out your signature as to year, model, mods ... ect.

It depends on use, if your using clean recent fuel, makers of filters ect ... Usually you can do the distance if good filters, stations with fresh filtered fuel, started with a clean fuel tank and such.

If you do go the distance, make sure you have spares to change out if you feel loss of power. I would change them and see if it happens again and then figure out why they are not making the distance.

    I know the fuels good.

I go to a 1 spot there all the diesel trucks go around my area and use the same pump every time and it’s filtered 380 gallons it says.

I have a 2014 2500 limited and it fully deleted Double R Diesel Tunes.

Question: Pardon my ignorance on this matter - but does the fuel % monitoring go off DP or Mileage or some other Algorithm?

I just changed my fuel filters yesterday.

It had been one year and 6,000 miles since the last change.

The filter looked dirty but no visible grit in the pleats.

The one year is probably why it said to change it honestly.

I think its 12k miles or 1 year.

According to the manual, front filter every 15,000 and rear every 30,000.

Personally I change my front at every oil change which I do at 10,000 miles or 1 year.

The rear I change out every other oil change which would be at the 20,000 mile mark.

    Do you idle excessively?

Did you reset it to 100% the last time you changed the filters?
