Because of this head issue somebody mentioned in here?

This is not the first time we have seen and heard this.

We get request quite often asking for us to turn up the power on a cab and chassis engine.

Folks tend not to believe us when we tell them why we dont do it.

I hate it happened for this guy, but here is proof of what has and can happen for others to see.

You know the crazy part about it.. after the race I pulled up to dominoes pizza drive thru.. they couldn't hear me cause the truck is loud..i debated killing it... truck was running smooth as a old singer sewing machine.. i killed it an got my pizza and when I started it back up is when it started hammering.. as soon as I cranked it.. just thought it was odd.

Valve seat probably got really hot, damaged itself, and once it cooled down it fell out.

I just don't get why the C&Cs would be different enough to be plagued with this problem?

The only thing I can figure is FCA had Cummins spec out those engine models as cheap as possible to make a good buck on fleet sales.

I haven't looked at the part numbers myself, but my local Cummins rep told me the C&C engines have different valve seats than the pickup models.

But yes I don't get the logic even if that is what was done.

I know this is old, but someone may come along and read this later as I did.

I’m not a diesel expert by any means.

I have a neighbor who just had this happen to his cab and chassis a couple of months ago.

He found out the C&C trucks have aluminum valve seats.

They are prone to falling out with excessive heat.

    His was tuned and deleted.
