    Re: Random Thoughts

Never had to worry about dad, it was mom we were all scared of.

She didn't put up with much, then the wooden spoon would come out.

At the rate she broke them over our a$$ I don't know how the stores kept them in stock.

You were lucky with the wooden spoons.

My mother, when she couldn't take my 3 brothers & I anymore went to the willow tree outside ... or said "Your father will hear of this!"

Rationalization – using a good excuse in place of the real one.

Dad had a special belt for the occasion.. kept it hangin in the closet.

Made us go git it and put it away afterwards.

I had a good, reasonable, Dad... and a Psychotic Mom.

Growing up in that environment kept my Dad, me, my two sisters, and our dog close since we all had to work together to stay one step ahead of "the ol' lady" as she was affectionately referred to (when she was out of ear-shot).

Compared to what I was used to at home, basic training in the military felt like summer camp.

I honestly didnt understand why some of the guys in my unit had trouble dealing with what the drill instructors threw at us.

    Closing thought...

I raised two kids. No major problems.

    Discipline as required.

Never saw the need for physical beatings or psychological torment tactics.

Pretty good topic drift right there @Babin Farms

Haha, had to laugh (cry a little) at this one.

We thought the wooden spoons we're bad until she got plastic ones...

Now those things really hurt... and never broke.

Glad I can laugh about it now...LOL

We all bring joy to the room, some by arriving and some by departing.

@Electrojake Same here, basic training was a breeze.

Raised 3 girls, one is now a LPN and will have her RN this year, one in the AF, the other in the Navy.

Some issues, but they've all come back and we've discussed it all out.

They shake their heads now at their friends who didn't have 'a**hole parents'. LOL.
