    Wide Wheels and Flares

My ‘04 has 22x14’s that stick out fairly decent and recently I got a fix it ticket for it.

Been riding on this setup for a few months without issue so never had to think about it.

I know this’ll attract the people that will say “I told you so” but I’m really just looking for advice.

No I don’t want to sell the wheels.

Who makes a fender flare wide enough?

Or can I make one that doesn’t look stupid?

The tires stick out about 3-4 inches.

I'd try to avoid adding flares and get some mud flaps instead.

I've seen plenty that sort of angle/taper out from fairly high up in the wheel well, to the width of the tire.

Someone might make them, otherwise an easy enough custom job to cut down yourself and bolt up.

I was looking at a set of rock tamers since I know they’re a fairly big flap. Ultimately I wanted to add glass anyways but didn’t want it anytime soon. The glass I’m looking at has about a 4” bulge. But Utah code states “flares have to cover top 50% of the tire.” I’m thinking if maybe you can’t see the “tire” sticking out from the rear with a decent flap that’s wide enough and tall enough I should be fine.

Just kinda sucks since I’ve been on this setup for a few months and have had other state patrolmen riding behind me with no issues. Just the wrong cop at the wrong time I guess. Cool guy, but guess I learned my lesson.

Was even looking into John flares but kinda like the look of rocker tamers more.

    But it’s an idea.

    Check your local laws.

Certain states say fenders or flaps and some same full coverage.

Go look up all the main companies that make fender flares and see what the max coverage they make.
