    Intermittent Tapping after Oil Change

So I just performed the first oil change on my 2019 2500 Ram. I put in Amsoil 10W-30 with an Amsoil filter. After changing the oil it had an intermittent tapping coming from the front passenger side under the hood. I've driven it a couple of miles and it seems to have subsided. I'm guessing it just needed to get the new oil circulating after draining? Anything that I should be on the look out for if it continues? This is my first diesel so I wasn't sure if it was normal. I also don't have any evidence of leaks so far and the oil pressure seems to be normal.

    Thanks!

Did you pre fill the oil filter before installing? How long did this tapping sound last?

Yeah, I prefilled most of the way, probably a little more than 3/4. Probably lasted about 10 min or so of doing some light driving. I'll be heading out again soon, if it does it I'll try to get a video.

    Thanks.

Did RAM switch to 10w-30 for 2019? Never heard anything about this.

If yours subsided then that’s good. Mine kept on going, and now it’s a lemon buyback.

10w-30 IS recommended by FCA in 2019+

It is very similar to 15w40, and they decided to use it from here on out.

I guess I must have forgot the addition for the 10W30 in 2019 as most everyone and everything around here always use 5W40.

    Thanks for the heads up!

Re: Intermittent Tapping after Oil Change

    Yeah 10w-30 was definitely recommended.

When I first heard the tapping I went and double checked I put in the right stuff.

Checked all specs it meets to make sure it matched what my manual said.

I’ve done a couple drives (over 20 miles) and it seems to have pretty much stopped.

    If anything changes I’ll reply.

    Thanks for the help!
