    Resto Project: '98 3500 12 Valve 5 speed 4x2

Well, here starts a new chapter. This is my first Diesel truck and I plan on doing a modern restoration of this truck. It's rough around the edges (looking at the flames).

This is 1998 Dodge Ram 3500 12 Valve 5 speed 4x2. It has 199,098 miles. I am the 3rd owner. I picked it for 7k

From what the previous owner told me:

    64mm phatshaft turbo
    Stage 3 Injectors
    ARP studs
    CPP hot street delivery Valves
    BD diesel control plate #10
Rebuilt transmission with upgraded input shaft
    Twin disk clutch
Aftermarket fuel pump with 1/2inch lines (it was a home made setup, pics to follow)
Fuel tank is in bed of truck
The interior cab has dynamat (everywhere)
It's got air bags over the rear springs, regular on board, but no air goes to bags.

Spare parts, two 10" Polk audio subs, two amplifiers, 1 capacitor, alot of new weather stripping. And other stuff LOL

I'm good with mechanical and suspension work. Doing paint is something I never have done before but it's Gunna be the first items I tackle.

Next will be electrical. The aftermarket wiring on this truck is a nightmare and done poorly. Gunna be soldering like a mad man.

I don't know where this project will lead me....but as Evey other project I've done in the past year, just take it day by day.

I reckon this thing will be completed and fully restored in 1 year.

    Hang on tight folks.

Started off with the simple stuff first. Have to get it to pass safety inspection.

One headlight bulb was out as well as the rear vanity lights

Gonna rip these headlights out soon and remove this crappy HID setup as well and go to stock setup

Everything was mashed in. Makes me cringe.

Ordered some weather stripping for the entire windshield cowl and associated parts from LMC truck. All of that besides the cowl is missing.

Has anyone ever ripped a good windshield off to reseal it and put new weather stripping on?

Ball park on how much it's Gunna cost?

There is a leak on passenger side and I can see a thin line if water coming down from firewall.

    Sub'd to watch the progression.

    Solid foundation to start with!

Are you going to try to hide all the wiring?

Or just make it less of a bird's nest?

I think I'd put a new steering wheel right at the top of my list as well.

    That guy really liked flames.

    Good luck.

Gunna remove the wiring, and this HID ballast kit with igniters are pretty low end and the splicing of connections isn't up to my standard.

All the crimped ground connections are dried out and the copper strands are exposed because they cut off too much sheath from the end of the wire and didn't bother wrapping in electrical tape or heat shrink. -_-

I have revamped an engine harness before so I have a few tools and tapes that I like to use for this stuff.

And yes steering wheel will go! After the exterior flames are gone LOL

I want to dial this 12 valve down....I really got to put the hammer down to get the boost up. The turbo doesn't spool up unless I really give it some good throttle.

I want to granny drive it but the setup on it right now does not make it possible to do so. LOL unless I want to blow everyone out behind me.

    Truck passed inspection!

    It's time to roll on!

Going put my 4Runne for sale and actually sell it before I start fixing and replacing physical parts.

In the mean time, I will be revamping a lot of the wiring that has been to the truck.

    Stay tuned!
