Tip for fuel filter change/cap help.

As we all know this forum is full of all types of mechanical background and Cummins backgrounds.

So just a couple of helpful tips on changing the main fuel filter and removing the cap.

28mm 6 point socket for the 6.7 cummins. I want to say at least going back to 2010 to 2020.

Get a 28mm socket anything else you are slowly rounding off or going to put stress cracks on the plastic nub.

29mm 6 point socket for the 5.9 cummins.

The 6.7 fuel filter sits little lower than my old 2nd gen 5.9 and realized that i loose some power having to dip so low and try and turn the ratchet.

So I took some pics on how i do my current 6.7 and its a breeze, its not hard and you can actually move the fuel cap the first try. leverage.

I think i was using my 3/4 ratchet and extensions universal wobble joint and a 14in ratchet. in the pics the tool is just resting in that angle.

There is room to have the extension almost straight up.

Anyway hope the pics help some of you out there.

I do mine the same way.

Is that the aluminum cap from Geno's?

    It's a cap I found on Amazon.

I did a thread on it awhile back.

Great helpful advice! I bought a billet cap to replace the plastic one - since then I've read many reviews of some designs having leaking issues.

So choose wisely - I kinda figure it's hit & miss...

I bought my billet cap off of Amazon - it showed 6-7 reviews & all were positive... Yes I know take those with a grain of salt...

I guess I will find out within the next 5K miles - which will put me @ the 15K mile mark & I will change both (My 1st Fuel filter change)
