Thanks for all the tips! I'm in Kirkland, WA so registration costs are definitely something to consider. I'm going to look at some 3500 options and see how much truck I can afford :-)

I really appreciate all the welcomes here. I knew I was in the right place! If only there was a forum like this one for all my interests!

Just remember the Aisin transmission is not tuneable.

The 68RFE is preferred in my book especially after doing any deletes or tuning.

    FYI

I would do a 3500 just for comfort of towing, especially if you decide to do a 5’er in the future.

Aisin is the beefier transmission but can’t be tuned and has to be serviced more often.

The 68RFE can be tuned and isn’t as bad of a transmission as some people make it out to be IMO.

What is the pin weight of the trailers?

If less than 1500lbs get the 2500, otherwise the 3500.

You also did not mention bed length.

The extra 1.5’ does provide more stability, but has its cons with turning radius.

I would suggest taking your time and drive both a 2500 and 3500, then long and short beds (all dependent on tongue/pin wt).

Worst case make the comparison with new ones, then expand your used search once you have the configuration narrowed down.

    Welcome!!

If a 12k trailer is in your future then I say go with the 3500.
