    Front drivers tire skips

Threw this in here because I don’t know where else it’d fit.

Basically what’s happening is whenever I put the truck in reverse to back up the front drivers wheel skips. It’s really noticeably and maybe I could post a video tomorrow. I don’t know what could be causing the issue but it’s getting really annoying. Feel kinda like your in 4WD and turning how the inside wheel skips. Although what seems to be happening is that the wheel itself is turning slower than the other side like somethings catching it.

This only happens in reverse whether it’s straight back or turning backwards. Anyone else have this issue or have an idea? Thanks!

Hello, Sounds like a u-joint is binding up on that side. Just my 2cents.

Is there a reason tho that it would only bring doing it in reverse?

I figured something might be binding but I don’t have the mechanical inclination to sort the issue out like that so that’s why I asked y’all.

But that’s definitely something to look into.

I try to minimize any reversing because I don’t want to further damage anything.

Can you feel it in the steering wheel?

Also, is there any popping noise coming from the front when you turn it deep in either direction?

I feel it in the wheel but that’s just cuz the wheel locks up, goes loose, and locks again.

If I reverse faster it minimizes it.

Can’t turn full lock only because the tires are so wide.

Doesn’t make sense that it’s only in reverse tho.

The U-joint could be worn enough moving forward that you don't notice.

Reverse Isn't traveled very often so that's when it shows its ugly head.

If you change the one, make sure you do both side while your in there so your not kicking yourself a week later when the other one goes.
