True!
My 2016 Longhorn 3500 is registered commercial/self-inspect at 12,300 pounds.
However...
Like any other commercial vehicle, you have to carry a DOT safety pack, 90 day self inspect logs, maint records, and stay within your registered weight, etc...
The 'self inspect' requirements are in the NJMVC directive which also includes; "all emissions equipment intact"
Which I doubt anyone in NJ actually follows (other than me).
BTW, my yearly registration fee is about $250.00 a year.

PS, Hey @Lgcooper, I say "delete" and tell us what ya' think.
Otherwise you'll never know how sweet it is!

“Emissions equipments intact”?
Sure Ossipher... it’s “intact” in a box in my garage.
You need a DOT number since yer tagged higher than 10K?
Good stuff.... Truckers bring it
NO because. . .
My vehicle classification is "Commercial Vehicle - Private Use"
Thus I do NOT need to post the GVWR on the door of the truck or pull into state scale stops.
There are no requirements for anything other than keeping a 90 day inspection log and the basic DOT safety kit on board.
