Okay, I am sure someone will chime in on your options for non VGT.

Not very long as the vanes will soot up and there is now no stopping an overboost.

A way around the issue is to leave it plugged in and limit the gear you are in.

Let the truck have some revs when driving around town.

It will keep the vanes out of the problem area.

Are you a wanting to make more power or keep a stock level and just lose VGT?

Are you currently running any programming?

@Emklause87 @TexNeck with Dude’s Diesel will be able to help you select a replacement Non-VGT turbo with your goals in mind and explain any fitting mods that may be required.

    What causes this?

How many miles are on your truck?

    Thanks,
The factory tune on the truck for one.

Also, the lack of Regens that can happen on a factory tune or not working it hard enough.

The soot builds up on the vanes and starts to bind up the motion.

Part of why they say to use the EB all the time because it forces the vanes to move under the factory tune and wipe themselves in a regular basis.

For many, if you pull the actuator and manually move the vanes you can sometimes clear the build up a little bit.

You then recalibrate the actuator to the new range of available motion and are good for a while longer but it is the sign of the end.

The hard part is identifying the turbo as the problem before you get codes for the motion.

Had that happen as it would shut down kinda and set the 010c code but nothing else.

The rattle from lack of air and no codes drove me nuts and down many paths.
