    Angry Fuel filter problem

Sooo replaced fuel filter in engine bay. Started truck and of course it leaked. Seen on cap 305nm which I figured was to tight. Anyways as I was tightening the cap the hex head broke off and now the damn thing won’t come off. Any ideas to get off or do I buy all new housing? Frustrated!!

Been there done that more then once..... LOL. Not a problem though. You can either get a big pair of channel locks to grab around the cap area or use a screw driver and try and hammer it off but it's not an easy process.... Just take your time so you don't damage anything else.

Also, for future reference it should state 30.5 and not 305. I know it was probably dirty and dark so you couldn't see that.

about a good quarter turn on it after it gets tight. I bought a billet replacement cap. also lube with fuel or some grease that o-ring. helps with the tightening and seating. use a belt wrench like you can use for oil filters to help you get your broke cap off. amazon, www.genosgarage or rockauto.com will have replacements. not sure which will be fastest shipping.

Highly recommend the billit replacement cap! It is so much easier to get off than the factory plastic one.

    X2 on the strap wrench.

They are available that use a ratchet to turn them in stead of the standard handle which makes it a little easier considering the confined space.

When installing, turning til it seats and is snug is enough.

    Re: Fuel filter problem

Did a lot of research and found this actually to be a common problem.

Ordered new setup from black market performance and hoping I get it soon.

Only downside is I won’t have a fuel heater until a lil' more cash comes in.

    Hope this helps someone.

Ya used Vaseline with the o-ring and made sure it was all the way down in canister. Only thing I can think is something with the oring. But the damn thing is seized now.

Gonna keep trying today to get it off but I think it’s home for life. If it’s 30.5 that cap is bad ***!!! Cause she took some torque, I knew it wasn’t right but for some reason I kept going. My mistake hopefully keep someone else from it. Thanks for all the input.

You likely have some good suction on it.

If you haven't open the drain valve below housing and remove some of the fuel that is in the bowl.

They do make huge channel locks if you know anyone that has them.

Keep us posted- make sure you do some homework on billet cap.

I bought one a while back and it looked well made but leaked.

Waiting on my next filter change to swap to GDP kit
