Help with VIN Mismatch

Good evening.

New to the site and looking for some direction.

I have an 08’ Sterling Bullet 5500 and am trying to work thru some demons.

I have an abs light on as well as check engine and the security light.

The security light stays on all the time but the truck cranks & runs.

The ECM I would assume has been changed as the esn on it does not match the one on the engine.

The build date is also later on the ecm than that of the truck.

That said the ECM is showing the correct VIN. I am getting a VIN mismatch on the WCM and ABS module.

In looking at the build data the truck should have keyless entry.

I only have after market steel key blanks for the truck.

I removed and thoroughly looked behind the plastics on the column for a possible glued on transmitter chip but found nothing.

Should my truck have chipped/transponder keys?

The wcm nor the abs would reprogram at the Dodge dealer.

Any ideas on clearing these up?

To add to my post, my whole motivation in fixing this is to be able to use my AutoCal tuner. Currently it will not flash due to the vin mismatch. That’s why I put it in this forum.

Hey bud, the dealer should be able to hook up to the ecm and tell what vin it is using. They should be able to get it squared away i would think for you. What did they say?

Thanks for the reply.

It originally had a VIN mismatch also for the tipm & he was able to reassign the VIN.

He tried with both the abs and wcm and the abs looked like it was going to take.

Once he turned the truck off and back on the abs VIN mismatch also returned.

What I don’t know is what is the procedure for reassigning a VIN to the wcm.

If it entails knowing the key/security code I know he did not ask for it.

Also don’t know if the wcm is the skim module around & behind the lock cyl or is it something else...
