Thread: Rail Pressure Spike?

    Rail Pressure Spike?

    Hey y’all, got a 2015 2500 with MM3 and full delete.

I’ve had 2 different tunes now and I get a rail pressure reading of 65k before starting every once in a while.

It happens while glow plugs are warming up before I start it.

Anyone else have this going on?

First time came with the delete kit from company in Texas and now I have DRD but it happened with both.

    Maybe sensor going bad?

This is probably just a misread.

Rail pressure in reality can never go that high.

Long as it reads normal while the engine is running, that's all that matters.

Thanks for the input! Yes it functions normally and reads fine while running and driving. Just reads 65k before start up about once a day and it’s always 65k and some change.

It's just a misread and as stated, all that matters is what it reads while the truck is running.

Also, Cummins doesn't have glow plugs, they have grid heaters instead.

I don't have an answer for you but I have just seen the same spike over 65,000 psi on my mm3 as well, tuned and full delete on a 14. every since tune it hangs after a full throttle run short or long pull then returns to normal. first time I all most pooped my pants. stepped on it and it still kept going nofoot on the throttle.

Good morning sir, I am wondering is there a fail safe built in for extreme rail pressure spikes?

At what pressure should one be concerned about injectors?

The fuel rail pressure relief valve is the safety net for over pressure conditions.
