Does any one have an idea of the expected life of an alternator.
I live here in Arizona Hot and Dusty.
This thing is on a 2006 Ram 3500 and the heat takes a toll.
I am just wondering if it would be prudent to do a time change just for cause.

Alternators usually last a long time.
And they give you warning when they are going out.
Batteries not charging, lights dimming a good alternator will cost a $1.00 per amp.
It's not something you have to replace to often.

And if you do have to replace it, buy a NEW one and steer clear from reman units.
