new to Cummins, been messing with diesels for a while now.

bought a 2004.5 ram 2500 4x4 quad cab for 5500.

the body is rough but the PO just rebuilt the turbo with a billet wheel, Bosh injectors, completely rebuilt front suspension and a bunch of other goodies (with paper work). the trans (auto) was allegedly built be another previous owner.

i get blow by when the truck is cold at idle, at 323K miles i'm guessing its time for some new rings. PO used T6 5W40, would a dino oil 15W40 help with blow by? it does choo choo at cold idle with the oil cap off.

truck has the Edge juice with attitude (with pyro) as well.

its a lot of fun to drive. looking forward to playing with it.

Hey there. Welcome to the mayhem. LOL

Heavier oil will not do anything for you 0ther than make it a little harder to start in very cold days. I wouldn't worry about it. If it starts right up when cold, fix the body.

If the catalytic converter is still installed, you may want to get rid of that. That will help a little

radiator started leaking while i was out of town... drivers side tank crimp. is it worth JB welding or should i just buy a new rad?

i haven't forgot about the pictures, had to take my son to Johns Hopkins (hes fine) and Baltimore will make you miss your small town (NC), got attacked by the "squigee" people.

Ordered a new radiator from am motorsports. 10 year warranty. Had green coolant in it now so I gotta flush it and get the right stuff in it...

New radiator and thermostat installed and the proper coolant installed.

Found a trans leak and a couple changed wires, so fixed one problem and found two more haha.

I was expecting to see an ocean when looking down the side.

I guess the bed has rust over the wheels.

Check the left inside rocker too.

Rockers and bed have rust.

It might not be worth fixing, drive it until the doors fall off and put the engine in a ford or something.
