    38x15.5 vs 37x13.5 on a 14 wide

I have a 2004 Ram 3500 with a 6” spacer lift right now and was wondering if I would be able to swap the spacers for a 6” coil and stack a 2” spacer on top without any modifications to the rest of the lift kit?

Reason being is because I’m in the market for new wheels and tires and was looking at running a 20x14 wrapped with 38x15.5’s.

I was also thinking of keeping the current lift specs and running a 24x14 wrapped with 37x13.5’s but I don’t like the idea of stretching a tire.

First of all, with trimming is it possible to run a 38x15.5 with that wheel width on a 6” kit? Ideally I’d jack the front end up another 2”, but has anyone done it? And before you hate, yes it’s a mall crawler build.

I don’t tow and have no urge to off-road it.

Going to be ordering the new setup in a week or two and need some insight beforehand.

    Thanks!

Current setup is on the 6” spacer lift with 18x10 and 35x11.5

I don’t have a whole lot of input other than I would not stack a 2” spacer on a 6” kit.

The kits are designed with steering geometry in mind and adding altitude will throw this off.

I got me a mall crawler as well it’s a bad *** grocery getter.

I have an 8 in lift with 35x12.5 on 22x14s.

The stretch doesn’t look to bad.

I could easily fit 38s but not sure if a 6” would.

The only thing that makes me think I could fit a 38x15.5 is because I know guys with a 6” running 37x13.5 and not rubbing until full lock without any trimming. A 38 essentially is only going to be 1/2 and inch closer to the fender and without stretch. Sometimes I like the look of a semi stretched tire and other times a flush tire looks cool. But it’s more or less me not wanting to pop a bead because I tried to race my buddies or took a corner to hard. But thanks for the input!

So this dudes got a 6.5” (1/2 inch bigger than my lift) and said minor metal cutting on inside of fender.

I don’t have that bumper but I’m already anticipating bumper trimming.

Is his lift being 1/2 inch taller than mine really that drastic?

Are you having these wheels and tires in addition to what you’re currently running?

Yes. To reiterate I’ve got a 6” Tuff country spacer lift right now. I have 18x10’s with a -24 offset and 35x11.5 AT’s. There’s a TON of room. I wanted to go with a 37x13.5 but don’t like stretch, but I know this size will work because there’s tons of guys running this setup with very minor trimming. But I want to go with a 38x15.5 because the wheel and tire will be more flush.

No towing or off-roading will be involved. This is the beginning of a show truck build.

I do plan on probably adding glass, but for now can I make it work? Also regearing, is it absolutely necessary at the moment? I’m running 3.73 right now front and rear.

New setup on a 20x14 wheel with -76 offset.

If it were me I would pick which setup I like best- let it ride with what i currently have for lift and see if you need more height or just some trimming.

Push comes to shove then put on your current wheels and tires if you can’t clear at all and need more height to get you by.
