    Deep Pans and Cooler Lines

What deep pans are you 2018+ folks running that will clear the 68RFE's cooler lines?

    I'm looking at PPE's pan.

It has all the features I want, but I've read that many pans on the market rub or chaffe against the cooler lines.

Re: Deep Pans and Cooler Lines

Last weekend, I installed the BD deep tranny pan and let me tell you, I had quite the time with the cooler lines!

I ended up having to carefully bend one of the lines in order to install the pan.

    Now, it's touching.

So, temporarily, I wrapped with some rubber inner tube I had just in case vibration was an issue.

The line should move along with the pan, so maybe vibration won't be that bad.

They are touching pretty good - it takes a decent amount of force to get anything between them.

    Any thoughts out there?

Will some sort of higher temp rubber/foam be good enough to isolate or should I attempt to bend the lines even more?

Good call wrapping the lines with some chafing gear. I'd try to carefully bend the lines so they aren't touching, or check for damage at regular intervals.

I ended up going with the PPE pan, and it fits great. Has a little recess in it so the cooler lines don't rub.

Zero: Did You use RTV or Reg Gasket? Nice Looking Install by the way! My Next project come spring!
I really like the placement of the drain plug!

How many qts did it take to refill?
I had plans on going with the PML cover - but the PPE might have stole my heart!

    Thanks SyN

    @SyN, I used a gasket.

I was looking at the PML pan as well, but found a good deal on this one instead.

It is a very solid piece.

The drain plug will make servicing cleaner, and it has 2 NPT ports for sensors.

With the valve body swap, filters, and PPE pan, I had to replace 10 3/4 quarts of fluid.

Just FYI, furthermore to the BD pan...I drained about 10.5 qts when changing both filters.

I also removed the lower cooler line completely, and I think that added to the amount of fluid I was able to extract.

Thus, since the BD holds 4.5 additional qts, I had to put 15 back in.

I was glad to get so much out - made me feel like I exchanged more than usual.

@ZeroSignal: I just ordered the PPE - Did yours come with all the New hardware?
I really like the placement of the drain plug as well as the very simple 3qt extra capacity - not 3 1\4 of 3 1\2... Also plenty of clearance for the ATF lines...

After adding the new pan - draining & adding some fresh ATF before towing season will be a snap.
