    Pros and Cons to Deleting a 2014 3500 w/68RFE

    So I’ve got a 2014 3500 SRW on a 3” lift with 37s and a 68RFE transmission.

I currently have 77k miles, stock motor.

I mostly know the pros to running sans EGR, DPF, SCR, and DEF: power, efficiency, longevity.

I’m more interested in the cons or downsides.

I’m not looking to make big power, or roll coal. I’m looking to extend the life of the engine, it’s components, and increase fuel economy.

If that means going to a 180hp tune, fine, but what do I need to worry about? Injectors, head gasket, transmission, etc? Would a stock or 30-60hp tune be a safer bet? Teach me oh wise ones.

Any help or insight is as always greatly appreciated.

Smaller tune is safer. It all depends on what you want. Mine started to have turbo issues and Regen problems. Then I found the filter was leaking so a tune was in order.

    I like safe.

I absolutely do not want to have to get an upgraded transmission later on, within the normal lifespan at least.

Like I said, I’m not after power as I have never been underwhelmed with the stock power.

A little less turbo lag would be nice though.

North of 400 hp kinda gits a lil dangerous. Then ya gotta look at head studs and new injectors. Unless ya wanna do all that Id say just run stock power

A stock truck can handle up to 120HP extra without issues.

So any tune from a 30HP-120HP you'll be fine.

30HP tune is recommended when towing.

    Does that include the transmission?

Depends on what transmission you have.

My Aisin is doing fine others can comment on the 68RFE.

I believe the G56 needs upgraded clutch 90HP and above.
