    Bye Bye Stock 68RFE

Towing my toyhauler home from the desert the other night and the tuner turned down to zero, pedal programmer off and I started to feel a shudder at about 35mph. Came to a slow speed, and check engine light popped on with gear ratio codes for 1-4, hydraulic pressure sensor range code.

About 10 miles later lost all forward gears, but still had reverse.

Came to a stop on the shoulder. Had to call for a tow to my shop, and trailer to get towed home... fml moment.

16k miles on my trans and the first time towing with the tuner turned down and the trans shits the bed.

    That sucks.

What plans do you have for the trans? Stock? Built?

    “Buy once cry once.”

I’ll pull it this week and drop it with the owner of Nextgen, and install it next week when I get it back. Didn’t expect it to let go this early but, I know the stock valve body has cross leakage issues. And I’m by no means a lazy driver normally.. just happened to be the only time since I deleted it 15k miles ago that I towed conservatively..

    Not heard of them.

Hopefully you aren’t dropping $12500 on that thing. OUCH

Definitely update us on the new trans once you get it in.

I own a auto shop, and he stands by the quality of the transmissions he builds, ive have more issues with BD and ATS trans so giving him a shot.

Price wise: can’t say ,BUT the quality is worth it.

Will definitely let you know how it works out!

He is good people and local to me, stopped by my shop yesterday after I talked to him with a stock Cummins valve body just to show where the common cross leakage is on them.

Took the extra step even when he didn’t need to.

I’ve installed a few bd transmissions and they don’t hold up, the Nextgen transmissions so far have been worth the money. So I’ll see and let you know first hand!
